Project description

EuRo Village is a group EVS involving 8 volunteers from different parts of the world. To the successful completion of the project will contribute also our local volunteers that will work and help the foreign volunteers in each stage of the project. The coordinating organisation of this project is Organizatia Tinerilor cu Initiativa, which also plays the role of hosting organisation.

The project is structured as a 6 months stage. All the activities are going to take place in the city of Draganesti Olt and the surrounding villages, urban and rural areas. The volunteers involved in the project are going to be involved in tasks as the followings:

Ø Participate to Romanian language courses;

Ø Administrate and promote project's web-site;

Ø Do research on the European youth policies and the way that they are implemented and perceived by the local authorities;

Ø Document the life: traditions, habits, culture, religion of the youngster of the communities, including the ones from the minorities that are living in our area;

Ø To help and get involved in the life of our community, in their try to observe the changes that happened since Romania is a full member with full rights of the European Union;

Ø To develop or get involved in activities on their own or in team with other volunteers, which will contribute at bringing the Romanian village closer to the European one.



Besides all these, volunteers are encouraged to come with new ideas, youth initiatives, youth exchanges, or other kind of projects which can be suitable with our organisation.



Interpersonal and social competences, learning outcomes for the volunteer:

The volunteer will:

Ø learn the use of Romanian language,

Ø learn about the Romanian culture and the culture of other countries;

Ø develop its skills in social integration and independent life;

Ø develop its skills of working in the team;

Ø improve its leadership skills and level of personal responsibility;

Ø learn new working methods;

Ø learn how to involve local youth, how to use youth animation

Ø learn how to manage various events and activities, project management;

Ø be aware of his own potential, cultivate new interests, determine plans for future life;

Ø gain sense of self-worth, understand his contribution to society;

Ø share responsibility for living together with a multi-national team of volunteers;

Ø learn about the opportunities for young people at local, national and international level;

Ø gain abilities in the framework of art photography and film (creation, editing and publishing), learn how to make a reportage, take an interview and realize a documentary;

Ø gain abilities in the filed of active listening, communication and feed-back, intercultural learning and active citizenship throughout the courses he/she will attend;

Ø learn how to present his/her own country, culture and traditions;

Ø gain the ability of cooking traditional food and also learn different and new kinds of dishes;

Ø learn about the European youth policies that are recommended to each member country.



Food and accommodation: The volunteer will leave in a single or double bedroom with shared cooking, washing, laundry and social facilities. A monthly food allowance will be provided, according to the EVS general rules.



Working hours and days off: The volunteers will have to work 6 hours a day/5 days per week. They will have 2 days off per week and 2 holidays per month (at their choice, which do not interfere with the project activities), for the duration of the project.



Local transport: In case it the project requires it, a monthly allowance will be provided to the volunteer according to his needs and the activities he is developing.


Volunteer allowance: The volunteer will receive a monthly allowance of 60 euro, according with the EVS rules.

Crisis management: Volunteers will be given a risk prevention and crisis management training during their on-arrival training. Also, they will be provided, with a personal map of the area, and a brochure containing information regarding all the 24 hour emergency numbers, our numbers, and information regarding different crisis situations they may deal with. We will also ask the volunteers to provide us with the all necessary personal information and emergency contact details, in case it is needed.

Language support: The volunteers will be given Romanian classes on a weekly basis(2 hours per week) in order to help them to integrate better in our community.

Terms and conditions

The application for the 2012 Study of The United States Institutes (SUSI) Program for Azerbaijani Student Leaders on Civic Engagement is now available!01.02.2012

SUSI is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State, and administered by IREX. SUSI is open to undergraduate students from Azerbaijan for non-degree study in the United States for six weeks during the summer of 2012. All students will attend a pre-departure orientation in Azerbaijan, participate in an academic residency program at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) with a focus on exploring civic engagement and including one week of intensive English language study, travel to significant U.S. civil rights sites in Selma, White Hall, and Montgomery, Alabama and to the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation in Arizona during a regional study tour, and attend a closing workshop in Washington, DC. All participants will stay in UAH dormitories.

The fellowship provides J-1 visa support, round-trip travel from fellows' home cities to the host institution in the United States, accident and sickness coverage, tuition and university fees, room and board (housing and meals), domestic travel related to the regional study tour, limited allowance for books, cultural activities, and baggage, and a variety of alumni networking and granting opportunities.
